Although I haven’t been to the derby (yet), my bridal shower was a Kentucky Derby theme and it was so fun seeing everyone dressed up in their hats and dresses. The date of the derby didn’t work out for me this year, but my husband and I are already planning on going next year. Here’s what I wore to my bridal shower:
Dress – Eliza J, Hat – Brooks Brothers
My tips for derby style:
A hat or fascinator is the main focus of your outfit, so start there and create an entire look to compliment your headpiece. Don’t just wear any hat with a big brim or else you could look like you’re wearing a beach hat. Nordstrom and Modcloth both have lovely choices!
Wedges are the way to go if you plan on walking across grass. You’ll want to wear something you feel comfortable standing in all day. I love these Land’s End wedges!
You’ll be glad you remembered your sunglasses, but make sure they’re more on the lady-like side to coordinate with your outfit. These are my all time favorite pair from Modcloth.
Have you been to the Kentucky Derby?
