What to Wear: 4th of July

When it comes to celebrating the 4th of July, going over-the-top is perfectly acceptable and even encouraged. Americans are known for being boldly patriotic and your outfit is no exception. Whatever your plans are for the 4th of July, they’re probably more on the casual side. Don’t be afraid to have fun and wear something a little louder than you would normally. I read one blog post about dressing for the 4th that said, “Just because it’s the 4th of July doesn’t mean your apparel is required to include all the colors of the flag. Opt for a subtly patriotic outfit”… Seriously? Go back to England.

Red, white, and blue looks great on everyone, but if you don’t want to drape yourself in a flag (I understand) then opt for sticking to two of those colors and a hint of the third. I put together a few outfits for the 4th of July: (L-R) The first look uses mainly red and white with a hint of navy for a classic patriotic look. The second look is perfect for a BBQ with this light-weight cotton dress that has a vintage vibe to it. The third is what I’ll be wearing on the 4th of July – flag tank, jean shorts, and boat shoes. Lastly, the fourth look is the best mix between subtle and bold, pairing white denim and chambray with a flag headband. You can’t go wrong with wearing those fabrics and adding a little americana into the outfit. photo 1photo 2
