Fall Wedding Attire with Rent the Runway

rtr

Ever get a wedding invite and feel like you have “nothing to wear”? You may have many choices, but there’s nothing like having something new to wear to your next event.

Two of my friends got married this past weekend in a beautiful ceremony on Belle Isle in Detroit. I went with Rent the Runway for my dress and accessories and had the best experience!

Summer and winter weddings are a little easier to dress for – I have tons of summer dresses and in the winter it’s easier to pull off a fancy dress. Fall and spring are trickier, especially if the wedding is outdoors like this one was. I found I didn’t have a lot of great fall dress choices that were dressy enough for a wedding, so I was very thankful for Rent the Runway.

How it works is you pick the days you need to rent the dress, choose a dress, pick two sizes, and (optional) add a few accessories to go with it. The dress came promptly on Thursday in a structured bag with the two sizes of the dress, a cuff, and earrings. I was so impressed with the neat packaging! They even put the return label on the inside to swap out with the outside so there’s no need to print anything out.

Here’s what made my experience with Rent the Runway so great:

  • The process was so easy. The reviews for each dress make it easy to pick your size, and having an extra size available put my mind at ease. The way they packaged it and sent email reminders to return it really made the whole process simple and user friendly.
  • It’s less expensive than buying a new dress! The dress I’m wearing is Lilly Pulitzer and is $50 to rent, which is less expensive than buying a new dress that I may never wear again.
  • It allows me to dress a little outside my comfort zone. The dress is something I’d wear, but the cuff and earrings are not something I would normally pick out! It was nice to wear items I wouldn’t invest in because it changes things up from my normal wedding attire. It’s like borrowing items out of a fashionable friend’s closet.

I highly recommend Rent the Runway for your next event! It was awesome to pick from high end dresses and accessories for an event I initially felt like I had “nothing to wear” to.

I used to love going to Belle Isle and have a lot of happy memories of going to the Conservatory with my mom.

It’s nice to see a review of this service from a “real” person. I don’t often have a need for a really dressy dress and don’t like to spend a lot of money on things I won’t get a lot of wear out of so this sounds perfect.

How long did you get to keep it before you had to send it back?

Thanks for the great feedback!!! Belle Isle is gorgeous – it’s actually getting nicer now that the city charges money to get in it.

I did a 4 day rental, but 8 is also available. I got it promptly Thursday evening and since UPS isn’t open Sundays I had it Monday til noon! I’ve always been skeptical of these rental companies but I have nothing but good things to say about Rent the Runway! Very professional!
